The Taj Mahal took 21 years to build.
Plan your itinerary. Because of the size of India, it is impossible to see the entire country in one visit. It would be like trying to see all of the United States in one, 10-day vacation. It's best to decide exactly which area you'd like to visit. Do some research and decide which region you'd like to visit. The capital, New Delhi, is located in the northern portion close to the Taj Mahal. The Taj Mahal has been called the most exquisite structure in the world. Mumbai is located in the central province and is a frequent destination for Hollywood movie-makers.
The Bengal tiger is the National symbol of India and can be viewed at National Parks throughout the land, such as Ranthambore and Bannerghatta.

You cannot travel abroad to many countries without the proper immunizations.
Get your immunizations. Your travel agent can advise you as to which immunizations are required for travel to India, and laws can change from time to time. Currently, you must get vaccinated for malaria, yellow fever, hepatitis A and B, meningitis and typhoid.
Booster shots are also recommended for the normal childhood diseases such as measles, mumps, diphtheria, and polio. Some vaccinations take 10 days to two weeks to become effective, so be sure to get your immunizations at least a month before departure.

Vacations can be fun but a lot of work.
Take care of all miscellaneous chores. When leaving home for a week or more, it's best to have someone house-sit for you. A house-sitter can water plants and see to pets. They can also leave lights on in different rooms so that it doesn't appear that the homeowner is gone.
Another miscellaneous task you won't want to forget is to go ahead and have some U.S. dollars converted to rupees. The rate of exchange is constantly fluctuating but it would be helpful to know the approximate rate of exchange. This can keep you from paying too much for certain items.
